Stoke lost the toss and were asked to bat on a very soft Kingsbridge wicket. The first Stoke wicket came in the 5^th over with the score on 16 when J Dorey picked up the first of his 2 wickets. Jeff Baker and Tim Nand-Lal (20) put on 27 for the 2^nd wicket before S Bailey-Lewis removed Nand-Lal. 3 wickets then fell very quickly as Stoke slipped to 45 for 4, M Edmonds (2-42) taking 2 of the wickets. The 2 veterans of Clive Burnell (35) and Ashley Hill (20) dug in and held the middle order together, the pair adding 39 for the 5^th wicket. Bailey-Lewis removed Hill and again Stoke were up against it. Ben Stone scored a useful 13 before the end and a few straight shots (to cow corner) by Burnell helped push the Stoke score upwards. However, 3 wickets from Mark Stacey (3-3) saw Stoke all out in the 39^th over for a disappointing total of 138.

In reply Kingsbridge were soon in trouble as Matt Corstorphin (3-51) and Mike Perkin took the first 4 wickets for just 24. Steve Inch helped settle the Kingsbridge nerves as he set about making a patient unbeaten half century. He was helped by J Westlake who contributed 26 in a partnership of 73 for the 5^th wicket. Jeff Baker (2-42) and Sam Hill put the result in doubt again when they took 3 further wickets to see Kingsbridge dip to 101 for 7. M Edmonds showed no nerves in scoring a brisk 20 not out.  Edmonds and Inch helped Kingsbridge to their winning total of 141 with 3 wickets in hand and 9 overs to spare.
