Stoke Gabriel beat Axminster by 8 wickets

Axminster were put into bat and they were soon in trouble against the Stoke pace attack of Mark Jackson and Stephen Nand-Lal. Jackson picked up the dangerman of P Hayball after hitting him on the elbow from a short ball.

Nand-Lal (2-21) followed up by bowling Leadbetter and having Murnane caught by wicket keeper Alex Bertram. Jackson took the fourth wicket, Mitcham for 16, and Axminster were rocking at 25 for 4.  

Youngster A Rocket came into bat and was soon scoring freely on his way to a well constructed 45. Tom Armstrong came on first change and he took 2 wickets as Axminster slipped to 91 all out with the last 4 wickets adding just 9 runs. Mark Jackson bowled tightly to return figures of 5 for 53 from 10.3 overs.

Axminster were bowled out in the 21^st over and Stoke went out to bat before tea. In the first over B Fuzzard removed Jeff Baker. Dave Higgins and Tim Nand-Lal put on 30 for the second wicket before Higgins was bowled by Rocket (who was having a good day !).

Paul Collings and Tim Nand-Lal managed to get Stoke through to tea at 57 without further loss. The pair restarted their innings after tea and Collings picked up the pace scoring an elegant 19 not out. Tim Nand-Lal batted through for 53 not out, scoring 11 4s in the process. Stoke reaching the victory total of 92 in just 23 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
