Stoke were put into bat on a bowler friendly wicket at Ivybridge. It did not take J Willacy (3-37) long to take 2 wickets with the score on just 5. Fellow opening bowler P Veale (2-22) also picked up 2 further wickets as Stoke slipped to 59 for 7. Ashley Hill battled defiantly but he lost his wicket to Ivybridge skipper Gareth Stuckey.

Matt Corstorphin held the tail of the innings together and he and Mike Perkin added 26 for the 9th wicket which was lost with the score on 96. Stephen Nand-Lal hit a 4 to get Stoke their only batting point but Perkin was out shortly after to bowler Pete Boast (2-13). Stoke’s innings finishing on just 100.

Ivybridge were set the target of scoring 101 to win off 50 overs. They went about the innings in a very aggressive manner with T Borrow (34) being particularly punishing on the Stoke bowlers. Borrow and fellow opener T Malling put on 44 for the first wicket. Alex Hill broke the partnership and this was followed by a wicket from Corstorphin. However S Henderson (34 no) and T Lancaster (24 no) saw Ivybridge home to a very comfortable victory by 8 wickets with 35 overs to spare.
