Ben Stone and Andy Ball opened for Stoke Gabriel U15s and they were soon smashing the ball to all parts of the ground. Inside the first 10 overs Ben and Andy had put on 82 for the first wicket in just 10 overs. Andy had contributed 20 when he was out to the bowling of Adderley. Ben made a very good 42 which included 8 4s and a 6 before he had to retire. Fergus came in at number 3 and he batted solidly without cutting lose. At the other end Matt Nand-Lal scored a rapid 20 before he was out in the 17^th over. Esme and Fergus batted through without losing a further wicket to set a total of 127-2.

The Barton innings started badly as Esme picked up the wicket of Rhys Swart and Barton were 6 for 1. Alex Hunt and N Beech joined in a partnership of 55 for the second wicket in quick time. Hunt had to retire for 40 and by the 11^th over Barton had reached 80-2 and were well on course for the target. Ben Stone bowled 2 Barton batsmen to give Stoke a chance as Barton slipped to 94-4. Matt Deakin and Andy Ball also took a wicket a piece but Barton eased to victory by 4 wickets with 2 overs remaining. 22 extras proved very costly for Stoke in the Barton innings – room for improvement in the next game.
