Torquay beat Stoke Gabriel by 57 Runs

Report

Stoke Gabriel U15s won the toss and put Torquay into bat. Torquay opened their innings with Seamus Mckenna and former Stoke player Will Bentley. Both players went on the attack and the score had moved onto 40 in just 5 overs. Matt Deakin broke the opening partnership when Tom Marke held a good catch at cover point. Jack Saunders joined McKenna and the pair added 42 for the second wicket.

McKenna retired on 40 and Declan Hinchcliffe took 2 wickets to give Stoke some hope. However some wayward bowling, which included 15 wides, helped Torquay to total 150 from their 20 overs.

Ben Stone and Andy Ball opened the innings for Stoke and they started brightly with the first 2 overs going for 16 runs. Jack Saunders and Will Bentley slowed the run rate and by the halfway stage Stoke needed 97 to win from the last 10 overs. Ben made a handy 17 and Andy Ball scored freely on his way to 34.  Stoke tried hard to increase the rate but the Torquay score was just too far away. Stoke finished their innings on 93 for 6 leaving them 57 runs short.
